Today we are going to discuss the first steps to getting federal funding. We will begin with getting the right credentials in order to apply. The good news is this can be done without charge

Step One Register Your Organization:

Go to SAM.gov( The System for Award Management (SAM.gov) this is the The Official U.S. Government System for:

The System for Award Management (SAM.gov) is an official website of the U.S. Government. There is no cost to use SAM.gov. You can use this site to:

    • Register to do business with the U.S. Government

    • Update, renew, or check the status of your entity registration

    • Search for entity registration and exclusion records

    • Search for assistance listings (formerly CFDA.gov), wage determinations (formerly WDOL.gov), contract opportunities (formerly FBO.gov), and contract data reports (formerly part of FPDS.gov).

    • View and submit BioPreferred and Service Contract Reports

    • Access publicly available award data via data extracts and system accounts. https://sam.gov/content/about/this-site

Step 2

Register Your Entity or Get a Unique Entity ID

Register your entity or get a Unique Entity ID to get started doing business with the federal government.

After you select your purpose of the registration (All Awards) and your entity type, you will enter the

following information to get a Unique Entity ID:

 Legal Business Name
 

Physical Address (A post office box may not be used as your physical address)

Date of Incorporation 

State of Incorporation (U.S. entities only)

The Government will validate the information. It could take some time . Its best to get started as soon as possible.
